Staff, parents and pupils at Whaplode Church of England Primary School thought Christmas had come early this week after a very generous donation of gifts from Sainsbury’s Spalding store.

The local supermarket is supporting the school’s swimming pool committee’s festive fundraising efforts with donations of toys, household equipment and stationery items to name but a few.

The school will use these items as prizes at their Christmas Fayre on Friday, December 11.

Alison Flack, head teacher, said: “ We have enjoyed working with Sainsbury’s Spalding store on a number of occasions and they are always very supportive of us.

“This donation of items is quite overwhelming and will enable us to raise additional funds to maintain and develop the swimming pool at our school.”

Martin Pearson, grocery on line team leader and PR ambassador for the store, said: “We have worked closely with the school over the last few years and we wanted to be able to say a big thank you to them for allowing us to develop links with our local community.”
