THE pupils at Bicker Preparatory School have raised £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support thanks to their school plays.

The pupils all had their part to play and some sang solos, choreographed the dances themselves and even wrote some of the script.

Before each performance the children explained to the audience that they were raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support – their charity of the year – and about the work it does. They held a collection at the end.

The Upper School children, in years one to six, put on three performances of Goldilocks and the Three Bears to packed houses, and the nursery and reception classes put on a nativity entitled The Two Little Robins.

Headteacher Wendy Bell said: “The nativity was really touching and I was absolutely amazed at the quality of all the performances.

“They all tried really hard. Some of them even learned instruments for the performances.

“I think the children informing the audiences about the sterling work that Macmillan does beforehand allowed for such a great collection.

“We are very grateful to all the parents for their brilliant support.

“We invited Carolyn Naylor from Macmillan to school for a whole school assembly when she was able to explain further to the pupils the work that Macmillan does and receive a cheque from the principle characters of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.”
