One of the features of GCSE results day at Sir John Gleed School was the number of proud parents celebrating success with their children.

Kimberley Wallace (16) of Spalding looked forward to a hug from mum and dad after impressive results, with four As, four Bs and a C.

She said: “I’m very very pleased with my grades and they were better than I expected.

“Waiting for my results was awful but my parents are proud of me.

“I don’t know what I want to do in the future and I just want to take one step at a time.”

Sarah Cooke (16) of Spalding is more sure where her future lies after gaining an A in statistics, five Bs and three Cs which means she can study animal care at Riseholme College, Lincoln.

She said: “I’m really happy and shocked.”
