Electricity network operator Western Power Distribution (WPD) is hiring new apprentices and offering four posts in South Lincolnshire.

WPD owns and operates the electricity distribution network, providing power to homes and businesses across the Midlands, South West England and South Wales.

The company’s Eleanor Sturgess said: “We’re looking to recruit around 100 technical apprentices as part of our ongoing recruitment strategy, with four of those posts being based in South Lincolnshire, covering Sleaford, Grantham, Spalding, Stamford and the surrounding areas.

“Our apprentices have the opportunity to work towards an industry-specific qualification while gaining hands on experience at a local depot.” Apprenticeships take two to three years to complete and WPD says applicants can expect an excellent range of benefits including competitive salaries and in-depth training and development.

On completion, apprentices progress into a qualified craftsperson roles working on overhead lines, the underground cable network or maintaining equipment in substations.

Further information is available on the WPD website www.westernpower.co.uk/Apprentice.

WPD will take applications until the end of January.
