The day after Remembrance Day 2014 is now an unforgettable one for Sir John Gleed School student Poppy Hudson (12) who was named Student of the Year.

Described as “lovely-hearted, helpful and honest”, Poppy held off strong challenges from another Gleed student, Theo Lawless-Hughes (14), and Georgie James (15) of Year 11 at Bourne Academy, to win the award sponsored by Boston College.

Poppy’s mum, Adelaide Hudson of Spalding, said: “I’m chuffed to bits with Poppy because she’s the most lovely-hearted girl who loves her acting and had quite a good sense of humour.

“Poppy is genuinely putting her all into school life, she’s happy at the Gleed and she enjoys pleasing people.”

The award was presented by Boston College vice principal Fiona Grady who said: “We are a very proud college and what students do is really important to us, whether at school, college or university.”
