Students and staff at the Thomas Cowley School in Donington gained an insight into issues affecting mental health to tie in with World Mental Health Day.

Chris Wright, Head of Cowley House, organised the week-long events which included assemblies researched and presented by Year 10 students and role playing activities.

Mary Meredith, Assistant Head Teacher, raised £495 for Young Minds by running the Lake Vrynwy half marathon in North Wales. She said: “We want to educate our students for life. Just talking about mental health issues is a great start because it helps stop the stigma. That’s what we’ve tried to do this week - we hope the conversation will continue.”
