University Academy Holbeach received a rather large present yesterday for just £1 – a new building.
The University of Lincoln – which is the academic sponsor for the Holbeach school – was able to give the two-storey building as plans are under way to construct a large new art and design building on its Brayford Campus in Lincoln.
A team of construction and engineering staff painstakingly took down Harrison House over the past few days so that it could be carefully transported to Holbeach.
It will enable staff to vacate offices in the main buildings at the Academy’s Holbeach site which will then be turned into classrooms.
The site is to receive massive Government investment in new teaching facilities this year, updating and expanding the campus by 2013.
The university’s senior deputy vice-chancellor Prof Andrew Atherton said: “We are pleased to have been able to offer this facility to the Academy and our planned new building gave us the perfect opportunity to do this.”
