A changing of the guard at The Deepings School was celebrated in the best way possible with record A-level results today.
Outgoing headteacher Chris Beckett hands over to his successor Richard Trow officially in September but both men were at the Deeping St James school to congratulate students on a 99.8 per cent pass rate.
About 80 per cent of students achieved A* to C grades, 56 per cent were in the A* to B bracket and 33 per cent of grades were A* and A.
Mr Beckett said: “The A-level results are very good and most of our students have got into their first or second choice of university.
“There was a real buzz from being with the kids but with it went a great responsibility and worry.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about the students and making sure that if they missed out by a grade, we can do something to help them.”
Mr Trow added: “We’re really pleased to say that it’s the best set of A-level results we’ve ever had which, for a comprehensive school, is a very pleasing achievement and we’re really proud of that.”
