Younger students at Spalding’s Sir John Gleed School enjoyed two special days before the end of term.
Years 7 and 8 enjoyed a heroes and villains day and then Years 8 took part in a Shakespeare Day.
The heroes and villains day was for students to celebrate their English studies. They were given the opportunity to dress as a character from a story or graphic novel and just under £100 was raised for the Callum Pite Smile Charity and the Royal British Legion by £1 donations.
Lessons on the day explored “heroic” themes.
The Shakespeare Day was to introduce Year 8s to some of Shakespeare’s comedy plays. All seven groups of Year 8 classes performed in front of their peers and many produced their own set, costumes and scripts.
The response from the students was overwhelmingly positive and allowed them to access Shakespeare in a fun format.
The day was such a success it will be repeated every year.
