Year 10 students from The Deepings School prepared for work experience by taking part in a role play scenario of BBC TV’s The Apprentice. The “World of Work Day” was delivered by entrepreneurs from the Bright Future organisation.
Coordinator of the event Linda Taylor said: “Activities linked well to the students’ preparation for work experience and have enabled them to learn about entrepreneurship and how their own unique skills can be applied for the future.”
Students spent the day in groups of five as they explored concepts of wealth creation and how employers determine who to invite to interviews. A task to design and build an innovative model roller coaster ride was set for the students, including a set brief with limited time.
The team leaders rose to the challenge as they negotiated’the purchase of raw materials in order to design and make loyalty cards for “Sir Darren Sugar”. A Bright Futures spokesman said: “We look forward to working with students from The Deepings School who are always polite and have some excellent ideas.”
