CHILDREN at two South Holland primary schools celebrated Father’s Day by inviting their dads and granddads into class.

The guests of honour to the federated Surfleet Seas End and Weston St Mary’s schools were invited to tuck into lunch with their loved ones on Monday.

Some also stayed behind for the afternoon in Surfleet Seas End to help with preparations for the school’s new gardening club.

The day follows a similar event held for mums on Mother’s Day.

Surfleet Seas End Primary School administrator Anita Phillips said: “We thought it was a nice idea as dads often miss out. It’s nice to extend a welcome and have the fathers in.”
