IT was a right royal day for South Holland on Thursday when HRH The Duchess of Gloucester paid a visit.
The Duchess’s first port of call was the Phoenix Montessori Nursery in Long Sutton, where she officially opened the building, before moving on to Taylor’s Bulbs in Holbeach, where she toured the refurbished pack house.
She unveiled plaques to commemorate the occasions at both premises.
While at the nursery, the Duchess was presented with a collage of self portraits made by the children.
Principal Clare Harris said: “It was a wonderful occasion and the children behaved beautifully.”
At Taylor’s, the Duchess was able to view the daffodil production processes before looking around the refurbished packing shed where she saw the first of the season’s bulbs being packed ready for dispatch.
Company director Roger Taylor said: “Her Royal Highness showed great interest throughout the tour, asking many questions of the people involved in the processes.”
