Fun-seekers will be dressing as cartoon characters to take part in or watch this year’s Deepings Raft Race.

It takes place on Sunday, with races starting at the footbridge on Bridge Street, Deeping St James, at noon (parade of floats from 11am).

Last year more than 30 teams took part in the exciting races, split into five categories – youth (under 18s), the main race, fun race, ladies’ race and a pub race.

In addition there are stalls, some selling unusual foods, and this year’s special is the Routemaster Bus Bar where people can buy a beer or soft drink and take it up to the top deck to watch the fun fair and stalls. A parade of children in cartoon costume goes from 3.30-4pm in Market Deeping town centre.
