Running a business like The Grange Spa is a lot of pressure for a young couple – Matt and Emma Craven married in 2006.

Even so, they have made sure their focus has not just been on the bottom line.

“We are more interested in family values and enjoying our time together and looking after people than we are in profit margins,” says Matt. “We are building a business, but we have to build it on the values we live by: family, friends and happiness, things that are important to us.”

They also feel a commitment to giving back and regularly raise money for charity.

For instance, on Wednesday they held a Strawberry Tea to raise money for Breast Cancer Care because one of their clients is currently undergoing medical treatment.

Matt does a lot of endurance sports and has competed in the Three Peaks Challenge as well as triathlons, some for his own satisfaction, others for charity. A couple of years ago he pledged to raise £5,000 for the British Heart Foundation.

Visit the spa Tuesday to Saturday 8.30am until 5.30pm, Tuesday and Thursday open until 8pm, contact 01778 440511.
