Over 200 people turned out in force to join in the fun at the Jerry Green Rescue Centre summer show in Algakirk, which raised £1440.

There were activities for all the family at the event, which had to be postponed earlier in the year due to bad weather, including a dog show entered by over 300 dogs and owners, agility demonstrations, a rescue dog walkabout and even a demonstration of heelwork to music from Lucy Heath and her dog Indie who won ITV’s That Dog Can Dance in 2012.

There was a live performance by acoustic duo Koostix, stalls selling dog treats and toys, Christmas cards and calendars, as well as a kids activity zone in which children could learn about dog body language and behaviour.

Food including handmade cakes and sweets, along with a barbecue were also on offer at the event.

Centre manager at Algarkirk Jo Hickson said: “It was a really successful day and everyone seemed to have a really great time as we got a lot of positive feedback, plus we had some nice weather which was also very good.

“I think it was one of our most successful events yet.”
