Rush-hour motorists on the A17 faced delays after a lorry blaze between Long Sutton and Wisbech on Tuesday.

A lorry and trailer carrying straw bales caught fire on the A1101 Station Road, Four Gotes, near Tydd St Giles Golf and Country Club, shortly before 4.15pm.

Fire crews from Long Sutton and Cambridgeshire wearing breathing apparatus used water jets and a ventilation fan to put out the blaze which took almost eight hours.

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said the cause of the fire was accidental and there were no reports of any injuries.
