THE antiques fair which was to be held on Sunday in The Black Bull, church hall and the Ruby Hunt Centre, has now been cancelled due to insufficient stall holders.

THE Ruby Hunt Centre’s quiz night is on Friday, May 24, 7.30pm. Teams of up to four, tickets £5 including a ploughman’s supper. To reserve a table phone 01775 820620 or 01775 822856.

QUIZ night and ploughman’s supper is being held in the church hall on June 28, 7.30pm. Teams of four, £5 per person, bring your own drink, glasses provided. Bookings to Carol on 01775 820248.

First Contact

ARE you over 60? Would you like to find out about local services available to you? Then go along to the First Contact information fair on Thursday, May 23, as part of Dementia Awareness Week, from 2pm to 5pm, at Surfleet Village Hall, Station Road, PE11 4BW. This is a free event and there will be information on staying safe and independent, fire safety, crime prevention, how to prevent falls, carers’ support and more. Tea and coffee will be provided. Why not join the group for a 30-minute or one hour healthy walk which starts at 2.15pm?

Gedney Hill

A JOINT Holy Communion Service, with Holy Trinity and St Polycarp churches, will be held this Sunday at 9.30am in St John the Baptist Church, Whaplode Drove. Refreshments will be available after the service.


THANKS to all who paid their annual subscription for the parish magazine, however, there are a few still outstanding. Where this has occurred there should be a reminder/renewal slip in the May/July edition of the magazine. Please return to either Ray Lindley, Carol Nicholls or Hilary Burt to confirm whether or not the magazine is still required. If so, include the annual subscription of £2 not later than June 30.

THE Baptist film show group is on Monday at 2pm.

ROGER Welby-Everard will be at the church fellowship on Monday, in the church hall at 7.30pm, speaking on his family history and life at Gosberton House.

ANNUAL parish council meeting is in the Public Hall on Monday at 7.30pm.

BAPTIST Church is supporting the Agape Care Food Bank and has a tub placed in the vestibule where members and friends can place items of food which will then be forwarded to the Lighthouse Church in Spalding. Items suitable for donation are milk (UHT and dried), squash, pasta sauces, sponge pudding, custard and instant whip, cereals, jam, biscuits, instant mash potato and basic pot noodles.

Clough and 

GOSBERTON Clough and Risegate St Gilbert and St Hugh’s Church is the venue for Gosberton Churches Together Christian Aid service on Sunday, May 26 at 3pm.

MOBILE library will be in the Risegate today, 1-1.30pm.

FRIENDS of St Gilbert and St Hugh’s Church are very happy with the income which has been raised and thank all who have given their support. This is hoped to increase by renewal of memberships, sale of tea towels, gift aid and Easy Fund Raising. It is hoped to help to pay for some of the repairs to the vestry ceiling.


ROTARY Club of Holbeach presents a spring concert featuring The City of Peterborough Concert Band at All Saints’ Church on Saturday at 7pm. There will also be an art exhibition and display of knitting for babies of Africa. Tickets, £6 in advance or £7 on the door, includes a glass of wine. MOTHERS’ Union has a fundraising tea tomorrow at 2.15pm. Members are asked to take a few small cakes, guests are welcome. Tea and cake will cost £2.50. There will be a raffle and bring and buy stall.


PINCHBECK East School Choir will be singing at the Women’s Institute coffee morning on Saturday at the village hall, 10am-noon. There will be cakes, raffle, bottle stall, games and crafts. Admission £1.50 includes refreshments.


SPALDING Ramblers Group is leading a walk on Sunday in the unspoilt Northamptonshire countryside around the village of Nassington near Peterborough. Meet at the Black Horse public house in the village at 10am for the start of this figure of eight walk. Further details on 01775 725531.

Weston Hills

MOBILE library will be in the village hall car park next Wednesday.

A BARBECUE and beetle drive is being held on Saturday, June 1, 6pm, at the village hall. Tickets are £7 adults and £4 children from V Prescott on 01775 766907.

West Pinchbeck

WEST Pinchbeck Church Ladies meet on Monday at 7.30pm in the village hall. Alan Bycraft will be talking about hedgerow foraging. Visitors welcome, £2.50 including refreshments.

MONTHLY coffee morning will be held in St Bartholomew’s Church on Saturday, May 25, 10am-noon. Includes refreshments, books and bring and buy. A parish councillor and/or district councillor will be in attendance if you have any concerns you wish to discuss.

THERE will be no Thirsty on a Thursday at St Bartholomew’s on Thursday, May 23. Normal service will be resumed thereafter.


A FASHION show is being staged by Baytree Boutique on Wednesday, May 22 at 7.30pm in the village hall. Money raised will go to Macmillan Cancer Support and the village hall. Admission is £4.
