TIME for Tea with Churches Together in Crowland is tomorrow, 2pm until 4.30pm at Crowland Methodist Church is in aid of Christian Aid. Call in and have a cup of tea and try our lovely homemade cakes.

THERE will be a big celebration in Gosberton to mark One World Week on Sunday, October 27 when a Churches Together service will be held in the St Peter and St Paul’s Church at 10am. There will be a special mix of words, pictures, music, drama and sound to celebrate the life of the community and ‘our’ place in the world. This service is suitable for all ages. THERE is a memorial book in St Peter and St Paul’s Church in which the names of loved ones can be placed including a short piece of text. This is opened at relevant dates throughout the year and is always available for inspection. A small donation is invited for this. Anyone interested should contact the vicar on 01775 840694

GOSBERTON Baptist film show group meets on Monday at 2pm when a member will show a film that he took while in Romania. Cost is £2.

AFTERNOON tea and favourite hymns is at Gosberton Methodist Church on Sunday from 4pm.

PLEASE keep the newspapers coming in to raise much needed funds for St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Gosberton. The church porch is open from 9am to 4pm for the receipt of the papers. It helps if the staples are removed as the paper is used for horse bedding.

THE mobile library is in Gosberton tomorrow from 10am to 11am at Field Close and Godfrey Avenue from 11.05am to noon.

GOSBERTON Baptists are taking part in Back to Church Sunday on September 29 with a service at 10.30am.

THE next fun and fellowship afternoon at Gosberton Baptist Church is on Friday, September 27 from 2pm to 4pm with table games, coffee, tea and cakes.

GOSBERTON Methodist celebrates its harvest festival on Sunday, September 29 with a service at 3pm followed by tea. The harvest continues on the Monday with a supper and sale. Starting at 7pm tickets are £3.50 and available from Belinda Taylor or Celia Hearth.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

GOSBERTON Clough and Risegate St Gilbert and St Hugh have coffee afternoons in the church hall on a Thursday from 1pm to 3pm, enjoying tea, cake and each others compeny. There are books available to buy or borrow and a vegetable stall.


THERE is a mega bingo session in the WI Hall, Park Road, on Saturday. Very good prizes, proceeds to Lincolnshire Air Ambulance. Doors 1pm, eyes down 2pm.

Long Sutton

LONG Sutton Baptist Church will be holding a Harvest Festival Auction at the Church on Monday 23rd September at 7pm prompt. All welcome.


THE latest No Frills community ceilidh at St Mary’s Church Hall takes place tomorrow. Dancing is from 7.45pm to 10.30pm with a short break during which Slapdash Appalachian give a dance display. The Beltona band provide the music and caller, Sue Gray, is there to help every step of the way. The emphasis is on having fun and everyone is welcome, no experience needed. Homemade cakes are on sale for 50p. Admission is £2.50 but will be £4 (children under 16 are free) for the Halloween and Christmas ceilidhs on October 25 and December 6. There is no bar but own drinks can be brought. Further information can be obtained via the Spalding Folk Club web site.


BROAD Street Methodist Church is holding a harvest fayre on Saturday from 10am to 2pm. There will be activities for children from 10am on the them of Dare to be a Daniel. Stalls include fruit and vegetables, cakes, crafts, books and jigsaws and Fairtrade. Homemade refreshments including soup and rolls will be served and harvest gifts for the Agape foodbank will be received. The joint harvest festival and Back to Church service will start at the earlier time of 10am on Sunday and will be taken by Rev Alan Barker. Everyone welcome.

Spalding East Townswomens Guild

THE next meeting is on Tuesday at the Gleed School library, Spalding, at 7pm when the speaker will be Nancy Ford speaking about Lincolnshire villages. The competition is for a photograph of Lincolnshire. If you would like to join us you are most welcome.

Spalding Ramblers

SPALDING Ramblers Group walk this Sunday will be in Fineshade Woods, part of Rockingham Forest located off the A43 between Stamford and Corby. This is an ideal site for birdwatchers and there should be a chance to see red kite in flight. Meet in Great Wakerley Woods car park for a 10am start. Further details are available on 01775 768359


THE AGM of the Surfleet branch of the Royal British Legion will take place on Monday, October 7 at 7pm in the Fraiser Room. West Pinchbeck

ST Bartholomew’s Harvest Festival Service on Sunday, October 6 at 11am followed by harvest lunch in the village hall at 12.15pm for 12.30pm. Tickets: adults £8, children (under 11) £2, (over 12 and still at school) £4. Bring your own drink and glasses. Proceeds split between St Bartholomew’s Church and the church ladies’ group. Raffle. CHILDREN’S Society coffee morning and box opening is on Saturday, October 12 10am-noon at Pear Tree Farm, Glenside South. Refreshments, cakes, bring and buy, books, raffle. WELL behaved pets are wecome to attend this Sunday’s Family Get2gether, being held in St John the Baptist Church at 11am. All are welcome at this informal gathering.
