Gosberton Clough and Risegate
GOSBERTON Risegate Methodist Church is the venue for a cluster service for Gosberton Churches Together and the Glen Group on Sunday at 3pm.
GOSBERTON Churches Together Committee met last Thursday when forthcoming dates were finalised. A united cluster service (which includes Glen Group) to mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity will be held at the Risegate Methodist Chapel on Sunday at 3pm followed by refreshments provided by the Risegate members. On the second Tuesday of each month, Gosberton Churches Together have a study group and discussion at 7.30pm at Gosberton Methodist Church with the theme ‘The Lord’s Prayer’. Every Thursday at 3pm there is a quiet room, open to anyone, at the Gosberton Methodist Church. Information for the community web site is to go to the Rev Ian Walters. There will be a United Walk of Witness on Good Friday, March 29, starting at the Baptist Church at 10.30am, and finishing at St Peter and St Paul’s Church. The Christian Aid service is on May 19 at St Gilbert and St Hugh’s Church. Next Churches Together meeting is on April 25 at the Gosberton Baptist Church.

HOLBEACH Town Band has a learner group on Saturday mornings, and runs the Holbeach Victoria Training Band at 6.30pm on Wednesdays followed by the main Holbeach Town Band at 7.30pm – all in the band hall in Back Lane, Holbeach. Visitors, potential players, improvers and players are welcome. Loan instruments are available. LONG Sutton Baptist Church lunches will be back as usual on Friday, January 25, all welcome.
DR Lucie Green will be the guest speaker at South Lincs Astronomical and Geophysical Society meeting tomorrow at 7pm with a talk entitled ‘The highs and lows of solar activity’. This will be at the Spalding Grammar School, entrance in St Thomas’s Road.
THE next meeting of Spalding Probus Club will be on February 6 at the usual venue. The Speaker will be David Tonge and his subject will be ‘Fen Folklore”.
THIS Saturday Broad Street Methodist Church is holding a coffee morning and snack lunches, 10am-1pm. There will be cake, preserves and Fairtrade stalls and the proceeds will help purchase flowers for the flower festival in May. On Saturday, January 26, there is a beetle drive suitable for all ages and tickets can be obtained from the church this Saturday or next Tuesday.
A RACE night is on March 1 at 8pm with a sausage and mash and sweet supper. The event is in the village hall and tickets are available at £8 from Pam Grummitt (01406 380548) or any other committee member.
