COWBIT Ladies Club meets in the village hall tomorrow at 7.30pm when the programme will be a magic lantern show. The club’s lunch will take place at the Jolly Farmer on December 4, noon for 12.30pm. Cost is £11.95. The menu will be available at the meeting, when payment will also be due.
DEEPINGS Lunchtime Women’s Institute members were given details at their recent meeting about the Deepings Foodbank, which is being organised by the Deepings Churches Together. They were reminded about the Deepings WI’s carol concert on Monday, December 2, at Priory Church at 2.30pm followed by light refreshments. Members have a trip to Rockingham Castle on Monday, pick up points are Walnut Tree 9am, The Stage 9.05am, Langtoft 9.15am, West Deeping 9.20-9.25am. Tickets (£3) for the Bourne Home Economics Group are now available and the speaker will be Nadine Carr talking on ‘Make do and mend’. The book group meets on Thursday at 2.30pm at the home of Margaret Merchant. The walking group meets tomorrow at Notcutts car park tomorrow at 10.30am.
TWO local charities pay out cash each year to eligible residents. The annual distribution will take place on Saturday, December 14, at 2pm at the Royal British Legion Hall. If you are over 70 years of age or a widow and have lived in Donington for at least seven years you will be entitled to a payment from these charities. BINGO afternoon, with proceeds for Macmillan Cancer Support, will take place at the village hall on Sunday. Doors open at 12.30pm with eyes down at 2pm. WHAPLODE Drove and Gedney Hill Bowls Club will be holding its Christmas bingo in the Gedney Hill Memorial Hall on Wednesday, November 27. Doors open at 6.30pm for eyes down at 7.30pm.
WITHIN the next few weeks St Peter and St Paul’s Church is having to spend £2,600 on its heating system. The present system was installed in the 1970s and has done a good job. After the system has been maintained more costs might follow as the radiator/blower units are not working so well either. The church would be grateful for donations or other help towards the costs. It is hoped that the work will not disrupt the services and events in the church.
LINCOLNSHIRE Police have a surgery in the church hall tomorrow from 10am to noon.
GOSBERTON Relief in Need Charity Christmas gifts will be given out at the Public Hall on Thursday, December 5, 10.30am-1pm and also at the St Gilbert and St Hugh’s Church Hall on the same day between 2pm and 3.30pm. All persons on the pension and living in Gosberton and the Clough and Risegate parishes will qualify. Representatives may collect for anyone unable to attend, but pension proof must be produced. These gifts must be collected between these hours, no exceptions will be made.

RESIDENTS will be interested to know that Lorna Webb and her team of helpers are holding a festive fayre at Mrs Webb’s home, 2 Poachers Gate, Pinchbeck, on Tuesday, November 26, 10am-noon. Coffee will be served with mince pies and ginger breads. Stalls will include cakes, pastries, quiche, mincemeat, lemon curd, pickles, vegetables and plants, Christmas decorations and jewellery and a raffle. Proceeds are in aid of the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
GOSBERTON Risegate Methodist Church has a Christmas fayre in the church at 1.30pm on Saturday, November 30. There will be the usual stalls, competitions and games and festive refreshments.
GOSBERTON Clough Methodist Church is the venue for the Messy Church at 3.30pm on December 6. All children must bring and adult.

ROYAL British Legion women’s section Long Sutton is holding its annual Christmas social on Monday, December 2, at 7pm at the RBL Hall, West Street. Entertainment will be by Spalding Ukulele Band and it is hoped there will be a visit by Father Christmas so please take along a wrapped present to the value of £3 for the secret Santa. BINGO is on November 27, doors open at 6.30pm for eyes down at 7.30pm. The December bingo is on Saturday, December 14, when there will be a Christmas theme to prizes.
A children’s Christmas party is being organised for December 14, before bingo, from noon until 4pm. All children from the village who are at primary school will be invited any child wishing to come along from outside village boundaries would incur a donation.
