Crowland

SATURDAY Strollers plan to walk in and around Werrington on Saturday. Meet at the former St Guthlac School by 10.25am, and bring a picnic lunch.

WOMEN’S Institute will meet on Tuesday at 7.15pm in the Royal British Legion Hall. The competition is to bring something beginning with the letter K.

CROWLAND Town Society is hosting an evening of carols and Christmas music featuring the Peterborough U3A Harmony Singers at the Methodist Chapel on Monday at 7pm. Festive nibbles in interval. Contact Margaret Smith 01733 210480 for ticket information.

Gedney

CHRISTMAS bingo will be held on Thursday, December 19, at 7.30pm in the Victory Hall. Seasonal refreshments will be served.

Gedney Dyke

BINGO will be held in the village hall on the following Wednesdays December 11 and 18.

MOBILE library will be in the village on Friday, December 13, at Field Close, 10-11am and Godfrey Avenue, 11.05am-noon.

THERE will be no meeting of the Ladies Circle in December. The next meeting is on January 9 in the Methodist Church.

BANOVALLUM Brass Band will be in the St Margaret’s Hall, Quadring, on Friday, December 13, at 7.30pm.

GOSBERTON House School has a carol concert in the parish church on Friday, December 13, at 1.30pm.

WOMEN’S Institute meets on Tuesday at 7.15pm in the Public Hall. The meeting will take the form of a talk on ‘Christmas past’ by Kathy Holland. Members are asked to decorate a Christmas gift for the competition, and these will be raffled, so as everyone will have a gift to take home. Visitors are welcome. GOSBERTON and District Churches Together Christmas quiz, with carol singing, is today at 7.30pm at the Duke of York.

ST Gilbert and St Hugh’s Church has carols by candlelight with the Spalding St John’s Church choir on Sunday, December 15, at 6pm.

LOOKING for a last minute Christmas gift, then the Friends of St Gilbert and St Hugh have some on offer. They have tea towels, £5;key rings, £1.50 and the 2014 calendar, £6 plus postage and packing. MESSY Church will be in Gosberton Clough Methodist Church tomorrow at 3.30pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Holbeach

HOLBEACH Town Band’s next monthly bingo is at the WI Hall, Park Road, tomorrow. Eyes down at 7.30pm.

GET in the festive mood with Holbeach Christmas fayre on Sunday, 10am-4pm. This year it has been extended from the Market Hill to Limmings and will include Church Street.

There will be a mixture of craft stalls, community stalls, street entertainment, Santa’s grotto, Punch and Judy and Radio Lincolnshire will be visiting. The Mansion House Hotel will also be open with craft stalls and entertainment.

THERE is a Christingle Service at 3.30pm on Sunday at All Saints’ Church.

ALL Saints’ Church has a Christmas bazaar on Saturday, 10am-noon. There will be stalls, raffle, tombola and this includes the usual coffee morning and cake stall.

THERE is going to be a flower festival next year at All Saints’ Church, during the May Day bank holiday, May 1-5. The theme will be Holbeach past and present. A working party has been set up to organise the event which will meet today at 7.30pm. Holbeach Bank

DON’T forget the bingo at Holbeach Bank School tomorrow. Some fantastic prizes including a voucher for hairdressing and one for a photography session.

There is also a toy tractor to be won and a special game to win a hamper, all of which has been donated. Doors open at 6.30pm.

On Thursday, December 12, the children will be performing their Christmas play ‘The Raggedy King’.

There will be two performances, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, and there will be a raffle at both.

Thank you to everyone that has donated to both these events.

Seniors’ Link

HOLBEACH Seniors’ Link meetings for next year are on February 26, Gedney Victory Hall; April 23, Whaplode Village Hall; June 25, Moulton Village Hall; September 24, Holbeach Community Centre; November 26, St Mary’s Church, Long Sutton.

Long Sutton

HOLBEACH Town Band Christmas concert is on Friday, December 13, at 7.30pm, at the Market House. Tickets £5, available from Market House reception ( 01406 366767).

Lutton

ST Nicholas Church Christmas bazaar is this Saturday at 2pm in the village hall. Stalls include cakes and produce, handicrafts, tombola, raffle, books, etc, and refreshments will be available. Money raised will go towards the ongoing refurbishment of the church.

Moulton Chapel

CHRISTMAS fayre, for the kids, by the kids, takes place tomorrow from 7pm to 9pm at the youth and community centre in Woodgate Road.

There will be various stalls, raffle and tombola run by the children and volunteers of the youth centre.

Hot and cold refreshments will be available.

MOULTON Chapel Tuliptime Committee is going from strength to strength and at the recent meeting 18 people discussed the 2014 Tuliptime activities.

Following the meeting the committee would like to invite any individual, group or organisation who feels they have something to offer to the success of the village Tuliptime event, to be held on May 4, to contact 01406 380551. The next meeting is on Monday, January 20 at 7.30pm at the community centre.

Pinchbeck

WOMEN’S Institute meets on Monday at the earlier time of 7pm in the village hall.

Members will be entertained by the drama group and visitors are welcome.

Quadring

PARISH Church Carols by Candlelight service is on Sunday, December 22, at 6pm, when the church will be lit by hundreds of candles - a spectacular event!

On Christmas Eve a Nativity Service is at 3pm and Midnight Mass at 11.30pm.

Saracen’s Head

A Christmas fayre on November 24 in the village hall raised £792.80 for village hall funds. Thanks to all who supported this event.


Spalding

CHRISTMAS fayre, with Father Christmas, will be held at St Paul’s Church Hall, Fulney, this Saturday from 1pm to 3.30pm.

BROAD Street Methodist Church is holding the second of its Christmas fayres on Saturday, 10am-2pm. In addition to stalls, raffles and refreshments there will be special activities for children from 10am. Later that day at 7.30pm Holbeach town Band will be performing a Christmas concert in the church, which has now re-opened following the work on the roof. Tickets are £6, to include mince pies, and are available from 01775 769438 or pay at the door. There will be no 9am service on Sunday. A traditional service is at 10.30am and a Christingle Service at 4pm.

CHAPPELL Centre in Pinchbeck Road is holding its Christmas fayre today, 10am-noon. On offer will be cakes, tombola, books, CDs, DVDs, coffee, tea and mince pies.

Weston Hills

ST John’s Church Carol Service is on Sunday at 3pm followed by the Christmas raffle.

West Pinchbeck

ST Bartholomew’s School Carol Service, including Blessing of the Crib, will be held in church on Thursday, December 12, at 6pm. This will be followed by refreshments. All welcome.

ST Bartholomew’s School Christmas fayre will take place in the school on Friday, December 13 from 3.15pm. Santa will be in his grotto. Usual stalls, including tombola, raffle, refreshments, cakes and games.

WESTFIELD Day Nursery children will be performing their nativity play in St Bartholomew’s Church at 5pm on Friday, December 13, and they will be delighted to see anyone who wishes to join them.

Whaplode Drove

THIS is the first weekend for viewing and voting for your favourite trees in the ninth annual Christmas tree competition, held in St John the Baptist Church. The church will be open on Saturday between noon and 4pm and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Seasonal refreshments will be available for a small donation. Also, the church will be open at the same times during the weekend of December 14 and 15.

SATURDAY, from 1pm to 4pm, is the St John the Baptist Church Christmas bazaar in the Church Room. There will be festive craft stalls, a cake stall, tombola and Christmas raffle, and home-made refreshments. If you have not had the chance to view the newly refurbished Church Room yet, then this would be an ideal opportunity.

Whaplode St 
Catherine

A children’s Christmas party is being held in the village hall on December 14, noon-4pm.

Children within the village boundary are free, other children wishing to attend are asked to give a donation of £2.50. Santa will be giving presents to all children.

CHRISTMAS bingo is on December 14, doors open 6.30pm for eyes down 7.30pm. The meat raffle will be drawn as well as an event raffle.

From February the bingo evening will be the first Wednesday of the month and will run throughout the year.

MUMS and Tots are continuing to run every Wednesday morning from 10am until noon; newcomers welcome.

THE Post office has opened in the village hall and the service times are Tuesday 11am-1pm and Friday 2-4pm.

Full post office counter services and groceries will be available.
