From Crowland to Thurlby

STUART Clark, a well known astronomy journalist, will be giving a talk to South Lincolnshire Astronomical and Geophysical Society entitled ‘The day without yesterday’. This will be in the lecture hall of Spalding Grammar School on Friday at 7.30pm. Further details can be found on the website www.solags.co.uk


NEW age kurling meet Tuesday afternoons at the Methodist Chapel, 2-4pm, £2 per session. You can use a pushing stick if needed, and you can also have a go from a wheelchair. A friendly group in the 60 plus age group.

IF you have a story for the Lincolnshire Free Press, why not pop along to see reporter Chrissie Redford while she’s in the town? Chrissie will be at the library in Hall Street from 10am to 1pm today, where you can talk to her about a story for the paper, any events you are planning or even request that a photographer attends your event.


THERE is a quiz night at the church hall on Friday, June 28 at 7.30pm. Teams of up to four are welcome at £5 a head to include a ploughman’s supper. Bring your own drinks, glasses provided. Bookings to Carol on 01775 820248.

BINGO will be held this Thursday at the Victory Hall, eyes down 7.30pm.

THERE will be a Messy Church in Quadring St Margaret’s Hall on Friday, 3.30-5.30pm. This is a once a month time of activity, crafts, celebration and eating. Children and adults must come together. For more information contact Pat Walters on 01775 840694.

GOSBERTON Baptist Fun and Fellowship on a Friday is on June 28, 2-4pm with table games, tea/coffee and cakes.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

DUE to a clash of events, the Risegate Methodist Church garden party at the home of Jane and Tony Harrison at 24 Siltside, Gosberton Risegate has been brought forward to Saturday, June 29, 2-4pm. Proceeds to be divided between the Gosberton Risegate MethodistChapel and Macmillan Cancer Support.

GOSBERTON Risegate Methodist Church is the venue for a meeting of Gosberton Churches Together on Thursday, June 27 at 7.30pm.

THE Risegate Methodist has a craft club on a Monday from 7pm to 9pm, £1.50 per session. On a Wednesday keep fit is in the Risegate chapel from 7.15pm, cost £1 per session. On alternative Wednesdays the village Silver Link Club for over 60s meets in the chapel schoolroom from 2pm to 4pm. Anyone attending any of these activities for the first time is asked to phone Sheila Lee on 01775 840836.

Holbeach St Marks

MUSIC from the musicals, a summer band concert with Holbeach Town Band is this Saturday at the village hall, 7pm for 7.30pm start. Admission is £5 including a buffet and it is in aid of the Holbeach St Marks Royal British Legion. A bar is available and the summer draw will take place at 10pm. FOLLOWING the recent appeal, Moulton Community Centre and Village Hall, are pleased to welcome new faces on to the committee. There are two new lettings officers, and all enquiries regarding bookings should now be made to Margaret Coe on 01406 370513 and Lynn Exley on 07553 354845.

THERE will be garden crawl around the village, and a horticultural show on Saturday and Sunday, July 13 and 14. The garden crawl will be between 2pm and 6pm both days, with programmes available on the village green, £2.50 per adult with accompanied children free. The horticultural show will take place in the village hall, and entries are invited on the Saturday between 10am and noon. Judging and presentation of trophies will take place shortly afterwards. Entry forms for the show are now available on the website www.moultoncommunitycentre.co.uk and in outlets in the village and the community centre.


TOLLGATE Women’s Institute will be holding a garden party ‘Tea at Balmoral’ today at 11 Balmoral Avenue, Spalding, 2-4pm. Admission £2.50 includes refreshments. Cake stall etc.


THURLBY Home and School Association village summer fete and car boot is on Sunday , June 30, 2-4pm, at Lawrance Park, Crown Lane. Attractions will include car boot (£5 per vehicle), craft stalls, tombola and raffle, arena for displays and demonstrations, dog show and dog agility, games, pony rides, face painting, bouncy slide, ice-cream van, refreshments and barbecue. As usual, there will be no admittance to the field before 1pm for car boot sellers, there is no need to book. Parking and toilet facilities will be available at Lawrance Park.
