From Cowbit to Whaplode Drove

Cowbit

COWBIT Ladies Club will meet in the village hall next Wednesday at 7.45pm (please note the new time). The speakers will be Mr and Mrs Williamson of Enjoy Chocolates, who will talk about their home made chocolates and bring samples. Guests welcome.

Crowland

WASTE freighters, for household and green waste will be at the groundsmen’s shed on Saturday, 8-11am.

SATURDAY Strollers will be walking in the Surfleet area on Saturday. The walk is about five miles, mainly on pathways, and over a golf course that can be muddy after rain. Meet at the former St Guthlac School by 10.25am to share transport. Take a picnic lunch.

CHURCHES Together in Crowland Rogation Walk will take place on Sunday leaving Crowland Abbey at 3pm and finishing with a cup of tea at the Salvation Army Hall.

CHURCHES Together in Crowland Christian Aid Week takes place from May 12 to 19. Christian Aid Service at the Methodist Chapel is at 3pm on May 19.

DIVERS Voyces will be performing at Crowland Abbey this Saturday at 7.30pm, celebrating music from the time of the siege of Crowland Abbey in April 1643, with works by Thomas Tomkins, John Jenkins and Henry and William Lawes. Admission £7 on the door.

Gosberton

THERE is an interest in forming a community choir in Gosberton, this would not be just for church, but for anyone interested in singing. Contact the Rev Ian Walters on 01775 840694.

THERE is a film show at the Baptist Church on Monday, May 20, at 2pm when films will include the Isle of Wight and the Grand Union Canal. Admission donation £2 includes tea.

THERE is a Messy Church in Quadring St Margaret’s Church Hall on Friday, May 17 at 3.30pm. This is a once a month time of activities, crafts, celebration and eating together for families. SPEAKER at the May meeting of the Gosberton Church Fellowship is Roger Welby Everard, who will talk about his family’s history and life at Gosberton House. GOSBERTON Risegate Methodist Church has a plant sale and coffee afternoon on Saturday at 1.30pm. Cake stall, refreshments and a raffle.

Pinchbeck

WOMEN’S Institute coffee morning is at the village hall on May 18, 10am-noon. There will be cakes, raffle, crafts, bottle stall, tombola and games. Pinchbeck School Choir will be performing. Admission £1.50, includes refreshments.

BINGO will be held at St Paul’s Church Hall, Fulney, on Monday at 7.30pm.

WESTON Parish Council annual meeting is at 7.30pm in Weston Hills Village Hall on Monday.

Whaplode Drove

THERE will be a Deanery Ascension Day Holy Communion Service at St John the Baptist Church tonight beginning at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend this service, after which refreshments will be served.
