CROWLAND Wildlife Group are hosting an illustrated talk by Emily Spicer from South Holland District Council’s Environmental Services entitled Recycling in South Holland tomorrow at 7.30pm. Bring a piece of recycling along to find it’s story. Free admission.

A REUNION at the former St Guthlac School held recently raised £40 which is to be given to Crowland Cancer Fund. This money was left over from donations given to pay for the cost of the hall.

ST Raphael Club meets every third Thursday at Trinity Court at 7.30pm for bingo, tea and cakes. Contact Frank Barrett on 01733 210761. Members £3. There is a pick-up service available.


GOSBERTON


THE Churches Together monthly fellowship meeting is at Gosberton Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 12 at 7.30pm reflecting upon The Lords Prayer.

GOSBERTON Women’s Institute meeting on Tuesday, March 12 at 7.15pm is the birthday meeting with Irish songs by Nigel and Terri. The competition is for an Irish limerick and there is a bring and buy stall.

THE Lincolnshire Police are having a surgery in the Gosberton church hall on March 13 from 10am to noon.

GOSBERTON Ladies’ Circle have a different meeting on Thursday, March 14 with a baking competition. Members are to bake a favourite cake and bring it along with the recipe for inclusion in the Ladies’ Circle recipe book. Proceeds will go for the purchase of a chemotherapy pump for ward 7A at the Pilgrim Hospital. Meetings start at 7.30pm and are £3 per meeting.

GOSBERTON Methodist teapot service is on Sunday, March 17 at 4pm with tea and favourite hymns. For more information contact John and Enid Parson on 01205 357832.

THE St Peter and St Paul’s church electoral roll list is renewed every five years. If there is anyone who would like to be on the list they are invited to collect a form from the vicarage or phone 01775 840694 to collect or have one delivered. This gives you the right to attend parochial church council meetings and vote on certain items connected with the church etc.

THE Messy Church is in Quadring St Margaret’s Church Hall on Friday, March 15, 3,30pm for 4pm. It is a once a month time of activities, crafts, celebration and eating together for families. Children must bring an adult.

GOSBERTON Church Fellowship meets in the church hall on Monday, March 18 at 7.30pm when the speaker will be Terry Grantham on “The hospice movement and how it started.” Members £1 and non members £3, which includes a raffle and refreshments. PEOPLE from all of the churches within the Gosberton group, together with the whole area are encouraged to support the street pastors. The last information evening is on Tuesday, March 5 at 7.30pm at The Lighthouse Church in Spalding. It is vital for the success of this project that as much support as possible is given to be street pastors or prayer pastors. Age is no barrier, one just has to be between 18 and 90. Fifty attended the information evening last Saturday and another 35 on Wednesday, February 20 and there is support from the police and the council.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

THE next Messy church at the Gosberton Clough Methodist is on Friday at 3.30pm until 6pm.

ST Gilbert and St Hugh’s Parish Church, Gosberton Clough and Risegate annual Lincolnshire Evening is on Friday, March 8 at 7pm in the church hall. Speaker will be Judith Withyman talking on her recently published book on Life in a Fenland Village during the 15th and 16th centuries. Tickets are £8, from Sue Murphy on 01775 750334. ON Saturday, March 16 at 7pm Gosberton Clough Methodist Church is having a concert at 7pm with Graham Haresign and friends followed by supper.

Holbeach

READERS may like to know a new supply of AgeUK advice booklets is now available at Holbeach Town Office and Fleet Post Office. Financial advice after the March budget will be supplied in due course.

THE Fenland Flywheelers will be holding the last meeting of the present season on Wednesday, March 6, in the function suite of the United Services Club in Church Street, Holbeach, with a 7.30pm start with free admission and light refreshments available plus raffle. The theme will be memorabilia evening and will consist of the regular patrons showing their collections of models, farming connected and otherwise, books and manuals plus Lincolnshire related collectibles featuring the farming aspect plus the event is also open to anybody to take their similar exhibits or collections along to show but anybody with anything large in size should contact Darren to make him aware and to allocate space.

Long Sutton


THE women’s section of the Long Sutton branch of the Royal British Legion is holding a beetle drive and raffle at the RBL Hall, West Street, Long Sutton, at 7pm on Monday, March 4.

MOULTON CHAPEL


MOULTON Chapel Friendship Club bingo is on Wednesday in the youth and community centre. Eyes down 7.30pm. All welcome.

Saracen’s Head

THE Over 60s committee has organised a concert music night with local artist Travis Graham on Saturday, March 9, starting at 7.30pm in the village hall. The evening also includes an excellent buffet. Tickets are £6 each and there are a few tickets left. If you are interested call 01406 422050. All proceeds from the evening will go towards the over 60s Christmas party.

A SPECIAL bingo for Easter will be held at Holbeach Community Centre on Friday, March 15, starting at 7pm. Prizes will be with Easter in mind and cash games. Spalding

ON Saturday Broad Street Methodist Church is holding its spring fayre from 10am to 2pm. There will be refreshments including snack lunches and cakes, preserves, craft, plant and gift stalls. Fairtrade goods will be on sale to promote Fairtrade Fortnight. There will also be craft activities for children from 10am and an Easter egg hunt at noon. Tomorrow’s fashion show and sale of chainstore clothes starts at 7.30pm.

THE Women’s World Day of Prayer will be on Friday. The morning service is at the St Mary and St Nicolas Church at 10.30am. The evening service will be at the St Thomas’s Road Methodist Church at 7.30pm. The speaker for both services is Sue Slater. All welcome.

Whaplode Drove

PLEASE remember to remove all Christmas wreaths and flowers from the churchyard and Garden of Remembrance by tomorrow.

LUNCHES will be served in the Churchroom this Saturday, 11am to 2pm. There with be homemade food available and the usual stalls and raffle. All money raised will go towards the refurbishment of the Churchroom.

THIS Sunday there will be a group service, a Songs of Praise, held at St Mary’s Church, Whaplode beginning at 10.30am, with the Bishop of Lincoln, the Rt Rev Christopher Lowson attending. There will be no service at St John the Baptist Church.
