Sixty-five members and guests attended the 67th annual dinner of Long Sutton and District Agricultural Society at Whaplode Manor.

Principal guest Rev Canon Robson spoke about his role as agricultural chaplain for Lincolnshire .

He also talked about the work being carried out by volunteers for Lincolnshire Rural Support Network in helping growers with problems ranging from business and financial to family and health issues.

He said the industry was not respected and the county’s role in producing a big proportion of the nation’s food not recognised.

He said we should have a minister for food and a national policy for the next 20 years to plan for food security, water supply and sea defence.
