It was love at first sight for Peter and Sheila Heather of Sutton St James from the moment they set eyes on each other at a youth club in Kent.

Sixty years and a move to Lincolnshire later, the couple are looking forward to a trip back to the county on Thursday to retrace their steps to love and romance.

Peter (79) said: “It took 18 months for us to get married and in our wedding photos, you can see the bunting on the lampposts that was put up for the Queen’s Coronation in 1953.

“We’ve hardly ever been apart and although we’ve had plenty of disagreements, they’ve never got silly.”

Sheila (80), who with her husband has two children, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, said: “We’ve not got a lot of money but we have a lot of stock.” Photo: SG140613-131TW.
