REFURBISHMENT work at Cowbit Village Hall has been completed thanks to a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

The grant has been added to a fundraising pot of £6,000 to pay for new toilets at the hall.

Village hall chairman Darren Harper said: “The committee and I are very pleased with the work. The toilets were from the 1980s when the hall was originally built and they needed some major work doing.”

Aron Moyses, of Winsover Road, Spalding, carried out the main fitting work and the decorating was then finished last month.

The £6,000 which had already been raised had been collected over the last three years from a monthly bingo session and the village hall draw.

Cowbit Village Hall Committee hopes the improvements will encourage more villagers to make use of the facility and consider it for their events.

Mr Harper added: “Over the last five years we have tried to bring the hall into the 21st century. We did the kitchen three or four years ago, with new units and a cooker, then we had the hall floor revarnished about two years ago.

“We are about there now.”
