Former Eastenders star Dean Gaffney is coming to Spalding on Saturday to officially open new children’s community facility, The Umbrella.
Dean will be cutting the ribbon at the former Spalding Youth Centre in Westlode Street at 11.30am.
At 1pm Spalding Flower Queen Inca Honnor will unveil the building’s new sign.
Local charity SPOTS (Supportive Parents of Tomorrow’s Stars) has taken over the building and several groups are already running activities within the centre. These include Tumble Tots, The Childminders’ Group, Limelight Youth Theatre, Polka Dot Academy, Spalding Youth Club and The Holiday Club.
The open day (10am to 4.30pm) will include demonstrations from user groups, a zumbathon challenge at 2pm and a balloon race to mark the building’s 101st birthday.
