HOLBEACH Hospital will launch its new day care service for elderly residents on Tuesday, March 1.
The hospital relies solely on donations and fundraising and is run on behalf of the community by a charitable trust with a council of management, chaired by Karl Ellerbroek.
Last year community fundraising helped the hospital buy a new minibus - and that has paved the way for the day care service.
Mr Ellerbroek said: “Initially it’s for three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and we have had quite a bit of interest because we have put a notice up in the charity shop that we run.
“We are extremely pleased. It’s another service we can offer to local people and we hope they will take it up.”
The day care service will cost £35 and that will include free transport to and from the hospital within a five mile radius, a meal, refreshments and activities like games.
Extra services such as hairdressing are available at additional cost.
Holbeach Hospital caters solely for elderly people with 32 beds plus another six for people referred into respite care by their GP.
