A NEW charity shop is set to open up in Holbeach this weekend – and will let its customers decide where its money goes.

“Chosen” will begin trading at 14 Fleet Street on Saturday and will be run entirely by seven volunteers, with a pledge to allow the public to pick local fundraising causes to support in the future.

In the first year it will hand over cash to the local Macmillan Cancer Support group, to injured personnel at the Royal Anglian regiment, Linkage College for people with learning difficulties near Spilsby, and children with diabetes.

Each cause will get money at Christmas and again in April, when the next four causes will be selected.

Chosen’s Mary Cooper said: “We were going to do it for Help For Heroes but we thought our little bit would be a drop in the ocean for a big charity but if we did it on a more local basis it would really make a difference.”

The shop will open at 9am on Saturday and is on the lookout for more helpers, items to sell and a till for the store.
