Mr and Mrs William Burton of North Street, Crowland, celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
They married at Downham Market Baptist Chapel on November 4, 1854.
The couple, who had lived in the village for 40 years, had four sons and four daughters and were said to have celebrated their anniversary quietly, with Mr Burton being 86 and Mrs Burton 83.
The couple were said to enjoy good health, had good appetites and could hear well.
They had kept the King’s Head Inn for 28 years, but their son, William, had taken over.
Mr Burton was said to be interested in the war, reading the newspaper regularly, and also a keen gardener, weather permitting.
