East Midlands in Bloom judges Jeff Bates and Jo Hull with Holbeach in Bloom committee member Stephen Johnson, chairman Coun Graham Rudkin, volunteers and parish councillors at Carter's Park, Holbeach.

Plants put up by Holbeach in Bloom volunteers to decorate the town centre have been targeted by vandals intent on ruining their work.

Police are looking through CCTv footage to try and catch those responsible for damaging plants in High Street, near its junction with Park Road and Church Street, between 9pm and 10pm on Sunday July 20.

The plants were part of Holbeach’s entry for the East Midlands in Bloom competition and Coun Graham Rudkin, chairman of Holbeach in Bloom, claimed it was the third time within as many weeks that the volunteers’ work had been damaged.

Coun Rudkin, a member of Holbeach Parish Council, said: “We had several incidents over the last couple of weeks where vandals have pulled the foliage off the planters and then thrown them on the pavement.

“It’s disappointing that someone is trying to spoil things for everybody else.”

Anyone with information should call 101.
