DAMAGING fencing in gardens in Bourne has left a teenager with a 12-month conditional discharge.
William Sturgeon (18), of South Fen, Morton, was found trying to climb over fences in Essex Way at about 10.30pm on October 1 when a homeowner heard noise in their garden.
Sturgeon appeared at Spalding Magistrates’ Court on Thursday accused of criminal damage and possession of a cannabis joint.
The court was told Sturgeon claimed he had been attempting to get away from a group of youths at the time.
District judge John Stobart gave him a conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £50 compensation each to two householders and £40 costs.
