POLICE carred out a random spot check on a scrapyard in the fight against metal thefts.
Officers, power company representatives, BT workers and British Transport Police spent Wednesday morning searching B W Riddle in Bourne for stolen property, checking records and ensuring it was operating within the law.
Sgt Rachel Blackwell said: “This is business as usual now and we want to send out a clear message to scrap dealers across the county.
“We will be carrying out random checks of yards and records and anyone found not operating within the law will be prosecuted.
“We are determined to drive metal theft down and we know that there are some unscrupulous dealers out there.”
No stolen items were found.
Anyone with information should call Lincolnshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
