A new team of prospective street pastors in Spalding are planning for a Saturday night out after an information event at a church in the town.

Volunteers and management team members for Spalding Street Pastors invited Christians interested in joining the scheme to a fact-finding evening at The Lighthouse Church on Wednesday.

Potential volunteers were told about the training needed to join the scheme, including first aid skills and working with the police, with plans to launch Saturday night patrols of Spalding town centre in the spring.

Jenny Tedbury, one of the management team, said: “The event went really well and we had a small turnout of people who wanted to find out about the street pastors scheme in Spalding.

“We still want more people interested in becoming street pastors to contact us on 01775 711591 so that we can organise another information event.”

Spalding Street Pastors is run by Churches Together in Spalding and District with support from the police, South Holland District Council, pub and club owners.
