Spalding church targeted by intruders

UPDATE FRIDAY 2.30PM: More details have emerged about intruders who damaged the locks of St Paul’s Church, Spalding, earlier this week.

No items were stolen during the most recent attempted break-in at the church on Holbeach Road some time between 8pm on Sunday and 9am on Monday.

Rev John Bennett, vicar of St Paul’s, said: “There have been two occasions recently when someone has tried to break into the hall at the back of the church and this incident relates to the second attempt.

“On neither occasion did anyone gain entry and the damage to both doors has now been repaired.”

FRIDAY 11.15am: Intruders have caused damage to the doors of St Paul’s Church, Spalding, this week.

Attempts were made to force open both the back and side doors of the church on Holbeach Road some time between 8pm on Sunday and 9am on Monday.

It is thought that nothing was taken but anyone with information should call police on 101.
