SUTTON Bridge man Dale Eyre pleaded guilty to assaulting Daniel Bennett outside the village’s Riverside bar when he appeared before Spalding magistrates on Thursday.
SUTTON Bridge man Dale Eyre pleaded guilty to assaulting Daniel Bennett outside the village’s Riverside bar.
Eyre (23), of Queen Street, was conditionally discharged for a year and ordered to pay compensation of £75 and also £85 court costs.
Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said Mr Bennett was walking his dog past a group of men on April 30. He stepped out in the road with his dog and tried not to look at anyone because he didn’t want any trouble.
Spalding magistrates heard Eyre struck Mr Bennett with a single punch, knocking him to the ground.
Solicitor David Lee, mitigating, said there was an area of relatively minor disagreement with the prosecution in that Eyre alleged there was provocation.
He denied being involved in a group attack on Mr Bennett.
