Police are hunting four men who stole cash and cigarettes during a robbery at a shop in Pinchbeck last night (Thursday).

The gang targeted Spar in Knight Street at about 9.40pm and a member of staff was sprayed with an unknown liquid before the men raided the tills and cigarette shelves.

Detectives believe the gang escaped in a vehicle waiting nearby, while the staff member was left with minor injuries.

Leading the manhunt, Detective Inspector Dave Rimmer of South Holland CID said: “This is a serious offence which will be fully investigated but, thankfully, attacks of this nature are uncommon in this area.

“I urge all staff working in late night convenience stores to be extra vigilant and if anyone has seen any activity which they regard as suspicious, they should contact the police and let us know”.

The men were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered, with reports on social media claiming that they wore ski masks.

Meanwhile, officers are speaking to witnesses and a forensic examination of the store is being conducted.

Anyone who saw four men, matching the description, who went in or left the store - or four men together in the area – possibly getting into a vehicle should call South Holland CID on 101.
