UPDATE TUESDAY 1.15PM: Police have released a partial description of a 55-year-old man found dead in a ditch near Gedney Hill Golf Club.
The man, who has not yet been named, was discovered next to a bycycle in a ditch with about 18 inches of water just south of the golf course on West Drove North, Gedney Hill, last night.
He was wearing a black T-shirt and shorts which was camouflaged in design.
Police believe the man was riding a silver mountain bike south of the golf course but although they have an idea of who he is, formal identification is unlikely to take place until later today or tomorrow.
Anyone who saw the man yesterday should call 101, stating incident 489 of June 9.
TUESDAY 9.30AM: Mystery surrounds a 55-year-old man who has been found dead next to a bicycle in a ditch near Gedney Hill Golf Club.
The body of the man, who has not yet been named, was found at the bottom of a ditch with about 18 inches of water off West Drove North, Gedney Hill, at about 9.30pm yesterday.
Police believe the man had been dead for some time and they are trying to trace his movements after he was last seen at his home by a neighbour at about 10am yesterday morning.
A post-mortem is to be carried out later today to find the cause of death but at the moment police are treating the man’s death as unexplained.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We hope to be able to name the deceased later today and we should also be able to release details of the bicycle and a description of the dead man.”
Anyone who saw a cyclist near Gedney Hill Golf Club after 10am yesterday or who has any other information should call 101, stating incident 489 of June 9.
