Owners of Land Rover Defender and Discovery vehicles are being warned after a spate of thefts across the county.

Eight vehicles have been stolen from addresses around Lincolnshire over the past three months, including one that was later found to have been stripped of its parts and another which was burnt out.

If you have a Land Rover defender or Discovery, please make sure it is secure in a garage and fitted with an alarm and tracking device

The other five are yet to be found and Lincolnshire Police revealed that also in the last three months, they have received reports of 14 cases where thieves have either stolen parts from a Defender or attempted to do so.

Sally Picker, crime reduction tactical advisor for Lincolnshire Police, said: “These incidents have taken place at both residential addresses and on farms so we need owners to be on their guard.

“If you have a Land Rover defender or Discovery, please make sure it is secure in a garage and fitted with an alarm and tracking device.

“In some cases, thieves have still been able to make off with the vehicle or parts from it..

“But by taking these measures, you can significantly increase your chances of preventing a theft.

“Meanwhile, if anyone sees someone acting suspiciously around a vehicle of any type, please report it to us on 101.”
