ANTI-crime steps at Springfields Retail Outlet have secured the continued Park Mark Safer Parking Award for the Spalding shopping centre for 2012/2013.

Car parks with the award can use the distinctive Park Mark tick as a sign that the operators are offering safer parking for visitors.

The Safer Parking Scheme is aimed at cutting crime and anti-social behaviour and was devised by the Association of Chief Police Officers.

Awards are presented following risk assessments carried out by the police and British Parking Association.

Peter Gravells, crime prevention designer for Lincolnshire Police, said the award is well deserved as the Springfields management has worked hard to create a safe environment.

He said: “Of course the best crime prevention measures are those taken by visitors themselves.

“All drivers can help themselves by ensuring cash, valuables and vehicle documents are not on display.”
