People in South Holland, Bourne and the Deepings can now get travel news at the touch of a button with a new, round-the-clock Twitter service.
The countywide highways services @LincsCC_roads on Twitter has been developed by Lincolnshire County Council to keep drivers, cyclists and pedestrians informed of road works, major projects and other road-related information, including gritting.
But even if you don’t have a Twitter account, the service is still available by going to www.lincolnshire.gov.uk
Coun Richard Davies, the county council’s executive member for highways, said: “We launched our “Gritter Twitter” service several years ago and it has been really popular, so it seems daft to leave it dormant throughout the summer months. “Therefore, we have transformed it into a year-round highways Twitter service and we will regularly update it with all kinds of information, including road works and traffic information where we can.
“If people are anything like me, the first thing they do in the morning is check Twitter so this new highways service should help people beat the traffic jams and get them to work with as little stress as possible.
“People can also call our Highways Customer Service Centre on 01522 782070 during weekdays between 8am and 6pm.”
