Police are looking into reports of someone using a metal detector and digging up holes on the grounds of Kirkstone House School in Baston.

So far two reports of an intruder looking for treasure at the independent school have been made in the past week and more than 40 holes have been found on one of the playing fields.

Police are treating it as criminal damage and the school’s principal Beryl Wyman said: “It hasn’t caused us any disruption but it’s just an inconvenience because it costs us to repair the field.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, stating incident number 296 of September 11.
