A 39-year-old man from Spalding has been arrested in connection with a speed camera being vandalised in the town.

The man was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage a day after a speed camera on the Spalding bypass was set on fire just after 2am last Wednesday.

He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue, but Nigel Gascoigne of Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership said: “We take reports of damage to speed cameras very seriously.

“They are there for a very important reason and we will not tolerate any action to damage or deface them.”

Anyone with information on the speed camera fire should call 101, stating incident 12 of February 12.
