DRIVING away from a supermarket petrol station in Pinchbeck without paying for fuel has cost one motorist £340.
Jamie Alan Hill (28), of Medlock Crescent, Spalding, was ordered to pay a £200 fine, £85 costs and compensation of £40.11 when he appeared before Spalding Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
He must also pay a £15 victim surcharge.
Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said Hill went to Morrison’s petrol station at about 5.40pm on March 24.
She told how he was seen pulling up on the forecourt in a red Citroen Saxo and filling up with £40.11 of unleaded petrol.
However, she said he then made off without making any attempt to pay.
Hill was identified on CCTV footage which was handed to the police.
Hill, representing himself, told the court it was a “stupid” thing to do.
“I have stayed out of trouble of two years,” he said. “I was with the wrong people. In a way I am glad I got caught so I do not do it any more.”
