A parish council fears it could lose public loos in the village unless vandals stop trashing them.

Toilets outside The Curlew Centre, Sutton Bridge, have been vandalised five times within a year – and now the parish council has put up a £100 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for the damage.

Parish council chairman John Grimwood (pictured) said: “It’s just mindless vandalism.

“We’ve had water pipes kicked off, they have broken the toilet roll holders and they have thrown soaked toilet paper at the ceilings.

“I think if we catch one – and one is prosecuted – it might put the rest off.”

Just after Christmas the district council owned loos had to be closed for five weeks due to damage.
