Thieves have taken several strips of lead from the roof of St Mary Magdalene Church, Gedney, at the weekend.

Five strips of 3m x 3m lead were stolen from the roof of the church in Church End overnight between 7pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday.

Police believe a vehicle was used to steal the lead from the church known as the Cathedral of the Fens.

Meanwhile, plants displayed by Holbeach in Bloom volunteers have been damaged in High Street, Holbeach, at the weekend.

The plants located near the traffic lights were part of Holbeach’s entry for East Midlands in Bloom and police are looking at CCTV to track down the vandals who struck between 9pm and 10pm on Sunday.

It was the second time within a week that the plants were damaged and anyone with information about either incident should call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
