A JUDGE has warned a Spalding woman to keep her hands off other people’s property after she stole a bicycle.
Lisa Malton (43), of Winsover Road, took the bicycle from Holland Market because she had injured her foot and did not want to walk home after collecting a methadone prescription.
On Thursday, district judge John Stobart ordered her to pay a £50 fine, £50 costs and £15 compensation by Spalding Magistrates’ Court.
Malton must also pay a £15 victim surcharge.
Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said the bicycle had been locked up outside Sainsburys at about 3pm on October 3.
She told the court some young boys said they had seen two people breaking the lock and taking the bicycle.
Sacha Waxman, defending, said Malton had been in “significant” pain from her foot injury and decided to take the bicycle in an offence committed “by opportunity”.
She said Malton wanted to apologise to the bicycle owner, Joanna Joyce.
