A MAN drinking in Spalding’s Westlode Street had his alcohol confiscated and was served with a notice banning him from the town centre area covered by a DPPO (Designated Public Place Order).
But Michal Nowak binned the map showing the area he had to keep away from and police then found him in one of the restricted areas, Double Street.
Nowak (29), of Commercial Road, Spalding, was fined £50 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £15 victim surcharge at Thursday’s court hearing.
He admitted failing to comply with a direction given by a police constable on April 23 to leave an area and not return within 24 hours.
Solicitor Mark Hudson, mitigating, said Nowak was just standing having a can of beer with workmates and was doing nothing wrong.
Nowak was polite when first approached by police but became upset when his alcohol was confiscated.
Mr Hudson said he lost unopened cans that were in his shopping and believed he should have been allowed to take those home.
He doubted if police would act in the same way if he were found in Boston’s Central Park enjoying a glass of wine with family and friends.
