Facing string of offences

A SPALDING man released from Lincoln Prison on Thursday could head back to jail when sentenced for a string of offences.

Greig Parkin (32), whose last known address was Wygate Road, has admitted offences including drink driving, driving while disqualified, possessing an air rifle when banned from doing so and possessing air rifle ammunition when banned from doing so.

The firearms offences were committed in March this year and the driving matters in June.

Solicitor Mike Alexander, for Parkin, asked magistrates to adjourn the hearing for reports because Parkin has previous convictions for driving while disqualified.

Mr Alexander said: “I think on that basis alone any bench would consider a custodial sentence.”

Magistrates adjourned the hearing to September 8 and asked for a report taking all sentencing options into account.

Parkin, who was not present, had his bail extended with a condition that he does not sit in the front seats of any vehicle.

He pleaded not guilty at a previous hearing to assaulting Samantha Costello on March 11.

Prosecutor Deborah Cartwright formally offered no evidence on that charge at Thursday’s hearing.

Mr Alexander said Parkin was not present in court because he had been returned to prison for a breach of his licence.

He was released on Thursday morning but had failed to get a lift to court in time.
